Handmade and made to last, the basket bags, known as Koodai - கூடை, is a traditional craft from Chettinadu region in Tamil Nadu. The Athangudi bag is hand-woven in 'sada' knot with recycled plastic, they are a great alternative to single use plastic bags and are washable to be used over and over again. Use them as your grocery bags, handbags or a shopper.
The bags are named after the villages in Karaikudi, Tamil Nadu, where the bags are ethically handmade, providing a fair living for the women who learn this craft as a part of their childhood. Since the product is handmade, the final product may vary slightly in colour.
